Although primarily self-taught, Karina also studied part-time in the UK at Reigate School of Art with Michael Noakes and at Whitechapel Art School and at Morley College with sculptor Alan Thornhill. She originally studied life drawing and sculpture subsequently moving to specialise in interiors and portraits.
Parallel creative careers have included theatre and interior design where she also worked as an illustrator of interiors for hotels and palaces. Her appreciation and pleasure in playing with perspective and the picture plane has led on from this work. The years as an actress fuel her interest in the thoughts and character of people. It has also influenced the installations which incorporate music, sculpture, set dressing as well as fine art.
Karina is happy to share her studio with guests who stay in in the chambres d’hotes that she and her husband Phillip manage.
